  • Music symbol (a beamed eighth note)2025 Skills Canada British Columbia Provincial Medalist List, including four people from North Saanich: Bronze for Ruben Brooks, Callum Fell, Venay Grills from North Saanich Middle School for Jr.Skills/Wind Turbine, and Silver for Drishti Balaiah from Parkland Secondary School for Public Speaking
  • Music symbol (a beamed eighth note)Local author, Tracey Lindberg, has been appointed to the jury of the prestigious CBC Short Story prize. Maria Reva and Terry Fallis are the other two members of the jury, which will select the shortlist and the winner in the spring of 2026. The winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and have their work published on CBC Books.
  • Former provincial MLA Adam Olsen successfully defended his M.Sc. Degree at Royal Roads, entitled “ÍY SĆÁ (Good Work): A Study of Emergent Leadership”

  • Santa trail in Ardmore
    Someone has put up dozens of handmade wooden Santas along a 150 m wooded trail between Glenelg Avenue and Glynwood Park Trail. How many can your kids count?

  • Annual Peninsula Firefighters food drive for the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank

  • Gingerbread House Challenge at Panorama Recreation Centre. At least 25 there now – you get to vote.
  • Decorated trail in Pat Bay
    Neighbours decorated the connector trail on Tseykum Road with ornaments. 
  • Cedar gnomes in Woodcreek/Deep Cove
    On the CRD trail between Lands End Road and Hasquiat Place. It’s a favourite photo opportunity for dog-themed Christmas cards
  • The biggest arrangement of lights and decorations in all of North Saanich
    Be sure to check out the east side of West Saanich Road between Laurel and Cypress
  • Ornaments high up in the trees
    Impressive display on the north side of Wain Road, just west of Russell Nursery. Drive/bike by to see.
