Big to the Rescue Has Some Big News

by Jayson Biggs

Big to the Rescue has had a big few months! We’ve recently achieved Canadian registered charity status, a major milestone that means every donation now comes with a tax receipt.

On the ground and in the air, things have been just as busy. Using our trusty Cessna 172 (based here in North Saanich at YYJ), flights have continued along the Pacific Northwest, covering British Columbia, Vancouver Island, and down into the Seattle area, transporting both domestic animals and wildlife to safety. Every flight represents a life that would otherwise face a long and stressful road transport, or in some cases, no path to safety at all.

One of the most exciting recent developments is a complete overhaul of the charity’s website, led by a dedicated new volunteer who stepped forward to give the organization’s online presence a fresh, professional look. The team has also been growing its social media, with active Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook accounts sharing rescue stories and flight footage. If you have Crave TV you can see us featured in a few episodes on Season One of ‘West Harbour Heroes’.

Community support plays a big role in our ability to keep flying rescue missions. Every donation helps cover fuel, hangar costs, training, and insurance. Looking ahead, there are plans to deepen fundraising efforts, including sponsoring individual flights tied to specific animals, and to keep telling these rescue stories so the community can see exactly where their support goes. We appreciate all of the support!
